The Harry Elrington Foundation
Glynis Elrington, from Dublin, Republic of Ireland has recently set up The Harry Elrington Foundation. The foundation receives personal donations from family members and friends through fundraising activities and distributes them to charities which are aligned to the type of disease that her son Harry died from.
The foundation has so far raised 25,000 Euro and Unique is delighted to be one of the nominated charities that will benefit from an annual donation of 1,000 Euro.
Below is a short snap shot of Harry’s story
Harry William Elrington, beloved only son, was born on 2 September 2006, weighing 3lb 14oz and nearly 7 weeks premature. He was suffering from extreme Lactic Acidosis and not expected to survive his second night. A few weeks later, the doctors confirmed that Harry was suffering from a rare mitochondrial disease. On the 12th October Harry stopped breathing and was dead for two minutes, he was revived, but things were never the same after that. As the end was nearing on 4th November, Harry was baptised and sadly two days later he died in an ambulance, which was attempting to get him home aged just 65 days.
